Somerset College; Quality Degrees Leading to Careers

Posted by Somerset College on Mar 5, 2015 12:01:00 PM

In 2014 alone, large employers such as Google, British Airways, John Lewis, the Police and the Civil Service employed over 18,000 graduates. This represents an increase of 8.7% on the 2012 figures, and highlights that more and more graduate opportunities are becoming available.

This in turn, signifies the importance of educational establishments fostering strong links with industry sectors – something that Somerset College has always prided itself on.

Strong Links with Employers

10603479_829304993771078_826446237127126523_nAs a result of our extensive network of employer contacts, studying a degree at Somerset College provides the perfect platform for students to launch a successful career within their chosen field.

Our excellent student alumni speaks for itself, with former students being employed by prestigious companies such as the BBC, Fat Face, Holmes and Marchant, Vivienne Westwood, Honda and Selfridges. Furthermore our strong links with local entrepreneurs, provides the ideal grounding for enterprising individuals whose aim is to set up their own business after graduating.

The College also delivers an innovative Career Development service that enhances students’ employability skills and links them with potential employers. This plays a vital role in helping students onto the first rung of the professional ladder, and laying the foundations for their personal success.

Guest Lectures from Industry Experts

NeillMany of our degrees include live working projects and are enriched by guest lecturers, keen to pass on their industry knowledge and wealth of experience. Neill Gorton (pictured), a prosthetics designer on films and TV programmes such as Dr Who and Guardians of the Galaxy, regularly delivers masterclass lectures to our Media Make-up students.

Our vocational degrees also provide students with the opportunity to exhibit at some of the country’s largest industry specific trade shows, such as the Surface Design Show, the International Make-up Artist Trade Show (IMATs), the Clothes Show Live and many more. This approach allows our undergraduates to showcase their work and talent on a national scale, making vital industry contacts which often lead to offers of employment.

Whatever your ambitions, a degree at Somerset College will help you realise them. We’ll be with you every step of the way as you seek to improve your knowledge, skills and employability.
